The former Eastern Region Football Association Technical Instructor Bismark Appiah who holds a master’s degree in sports policy, management, and international development from the University of Edinburgh United Kingdom, decided to assist the catch them young referees with the support of all District Referee Managers after the policy of Catch Them Young Referees was implemented.
The Catch Them Young Referee policy introduced by the current president of the Ghana Football Association, Sir Kurt E.S Okraku to Association Football in the country. MA Elite Retired Referee Bismark Appiah is one of the spearheads of the policy, making sure it goal is realized.
The catch them young training program, the district Catch them young referee examination, and some catch them young training program were organized in 2020–2021 by the former Eastern Region Technical Instructor Bismark Appiah.
He championed the Eastern Region Football Association in 2021/22 to cover prospective referees’ travel to Cape Coast for fitness test, as well as supplies for training equipment.
In the just ended Kingsley Inter-town Gala competition dubbed “Proudly Asiakwan Homecoming 2023”, Sir Bismark Appiah donated Referee’s items such as Whistles, Uniforms, Digital watches, caution cards, Adidas training uniforms, Referees flag, Adidas Lacoste, and equipment bags worth over GHc20,000.00 to the Referees.
The “Proudly Asiakwa Homecoming 2023” is a memory which will last long in the memories of everyone who witnessed it especially the benefits the ERFA Referees has gained from it. Colleagues Fifa Referees Kwasi Brobbey and Referee Joyce Obenewaa Appiah, nurtured Ghana BetPawa Premier League referee Emmanuel Asare Darko, DOL Referee’s Lovia Boadiwaa Duodu, Kadril Mohammed, Prince Okoto Ntiamoah, Albert Quaino, and Eastern Referee Manager Sir Emmanuel Ampem Darko, Regional Referee Technical instructor Mr Jones Akubiem, also Asiakwa District Referee’s Manager Sintim Musah all came to grace the occasion
